In the middle of the discussions about the budget of the Biden government, Duchess Meghan interferes - with a personal anecdote about daughter Lili.

Montecito - America's Democrats have been negotiating for weeks how much to spend on the budget, which will include items from the Biden administration on areas such as climate change, health care and childcare.

The funds for paid family leave are expected to be lower than originally announced.

Duchess Meghan addresses the US government in an emotional letter

Another prominent voice has now spoken out about the discussions: Duchess Meghan. She wrote an open letter to Senator Chuck Schumer and Congressman Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday (10/20/21). The Royal calls for no “compromises or negotiations” when it comes to paid family vacations. Many Americans do not have access to paid vacation.

Among other things, Meghan Markle wrote in her letter: "There is no permanent recovery - no real reconstruction - without care.

Paid vacation is a necessary and long overdue investment that would help add more than $ 1.6 trillion to our economy through higher female participation. ”He continued,“ An investment in paid vacation will work for our families, our businesses and pay off our economy while creating a fairer recovery for everyone. "

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex has written a letter to @SpeakerPelosi and @SenSchumer about the urgent need for #PaidLeaveForAll in the US.

It's time, she says, to ensure that millions of American families who need and deserve guaranteed paid leave are given just that👇🏻 pic.twitter.com/fAdNj8ZhRp

Meghan Markle: "overwhelmed" by birth

Meghan Markle explains to her letter that the decision is neither right nor left, but a question of "right or wrong".

On the one hand, the Duchess mentions growing up with her first job at the age of just 13.

On the other hand, she refers to her own experiences with the birth of her daughter Lili.

“In June my husband and I had our second child.

Like all parents, we were overjoyed.

Like many parents, we were overwhelmed.

Like even fewer parents, we were not confronted with the harsh reality of either spending those first critical months with our baby or going back to work, ”says Markle.

“We knew we could take them home and dedicate ourselves fully to our children and family at this important (and sacred) time.

We knew that this way we wouldn't have to make the impossible decisions about childcare, work and medical care that so many people have to make every day, ”says the 40-year-old.

At the end of the letter, Duchess Meghan also signs on behalf of her family.

"On behalf of my family, Archie and Lili and Harry, thank you for taking this letter to heart and ask you to make sure that this momentous moment does not go by," said Meghan Markle.
