Ankara, SANA- European countries condemned today the decision of the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to expel the ambassadors of ten countries from Turkey

Ankara-Sana

European countries denounced the decision of the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, today to expel the ambassadors of ten countries from Turkey, including the American and German ambassadors, under the pretext of calling for the release of Turkish dissident Osman Kavala, who is imprisoned in his prisons.

Agence France-Presse quoted Norwegian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Trode Maaside as saying to local media that our ambassador did nothing to justify the expulsion, pledging to continue pressure on the Turkish regime on the file of human rights and democracy.

Earlier today, the head of the Turkish regime created a diplomatic crisis and ordered the expulsion of the ambassadors of ten countries: Canada, France, Finland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and the United States.

The Council of Europe had threatened Erdogan's regime with punitive measures that could be approved during its next session if Kavala was not released during the continuation of his trial, as the measures against Turkey could reach the suspension of voting rights and even membership in the Council.

The Turkish regime has continued to arrest Osman Kavala since 2017, and imprison him without conviction, as he faces a number of charges against the backdrop of the Gezi protests in 2013 and the attempted coup in 2016.

And the new diplomatic crisis that Erdogan created rebounded on the Turkish operation, which continued its decline today to a record low level against the dollar, following Erdogan's statements, which raised fears of a new wave of tension with the West.

For its part, the "Eurasia Group" said that Recep Tayyip Erdogan faces the risk of "dragging the Turkish economy into a crisis created by the president."

Erdogan's regime continues its crackdown campaigns against its opponents in various Turkish cities and regions. Over the past years, thousands of civilians and soldiers have been arrested, in addition to the dismissal or suspension of about 150,000 workers in the government, the army, the judiciary, education and other institutions.
