A fire on a freight train in Sarstedt near Hanover has blocked a railway line.
According to a spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn, the blockage could possibly last the weekend.
Among other things, an S-Bahn that runs from Hanover to Hildesheim is affected.
A rail replacement service was set up.
The train loaded with semi-trailers on the way from Denmark to Italy had, according to initial findings by the police, caught the torn down overhead line of a train ahead with its pantograph.
Sarstedt - The short circuit produced sparks that triggered the fire on Saturday.
More than 50 firefighters were on duty and put out the fire.
