From November, Rambler Garden Tsing Yi will have 500 rooms available for foreign domestic helpers during the quarantine week. 35% of the expensive rooms can be grabbed at Penny's Bay

The Labour Department announced today (23) that starting from the 1st of next month, the Rambler Garden Hotel in Tsing Yi will be added as a designated quarantine facility for foreign domestic helpers, providing a total of 500 rooms.

Employers of foreign domestic helpers and employment agencies can book rooms on the hotel’s online reservation system starting at 9:30 am on Monday (25th). The charge per room per night is 650 yuan, including meals and all expenses.

The price of the new foreign helper quarantine hotel is 480 yuan per night at the Penny's Bay Quarantine Center, which is about 35% more expensive, and the total employer cost difference is about 3570 yuan.

But compared with Silka Hotel Tsuen Wan, which is also used as a quarantine facility for foreign domestic helpers, the room price per night is 800 yuan, and the employer's total cost can be saved as much as 3150 yuan.

Room charge 650 yuan per night

Employers and employment agencies can book rooms at Rambler Hotel Tsing Yi’s online reservation system www.ramblerhotels.com/garden from 9:30 am on Monday (25th). Each room costs RMB 650 per night. The cost includes all meals and all expenses.

In addition, the hotel will request a copy of the foreign domestic helper's passport, valid work visa and approved vaccination records to verify the foreign domestic helper's identity.

The Labour Department stated that it understands the needs of foreign domestic helpers from local households, and will consider the global and local epidemics before reviewing whether it can further increase the number of designated quarantine facilities.

Together with the provision of an additional 200 units from the Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre on Lantau Island yesterday (22nd) and rooms at the Silka Tsuen Wan Hotel, a total of 1,000 units are now provided for foreign domestic helpers who come to work in Hong Kong for quarantine purposes.
