A wood explosion and fire took place at a power plant in the port city of Bender Abbas in southern Iran, media outlets in the Islamic Republic reported today (Saturday).
It was further reported that there were no casualties in the fire but black smoke was flying over large parts of the city.
According to reports, a submarine of the city's large power plant caught fire and the power supply was cut off to more than a quarter of the city.
A spokesman for the local electricity corporation claimed that the fire was caused by burning thorns near the facility and that it was not a deliberate incident in his estimation.
Bender Abbas was formerly a target of a widespread cyber attack that paralyzed the port and other facilities in the southern city.
According to foreign reports, the attack, which silenced the port for more than three days, was an Israeli response to an Iranian attack on water infrastructure in Israel.
