The outdoor pool in Maisach is being renovated for an estimated 1.5 million euros.

The municipal council decided on the minimal solution so that bathing could take place for the next few years.

Fun elements in the water are currently out of the question - otherwise there is a risk of new annoyance.

Maisach -

As reported, a resident filed a lawsuit because of the noise from the outdoor pool.

She called for operations to be restricted.

The Munich administrative court dismissed the lawsuit.

To put it simply, there is protection of the existing public swimming pool in its current form.

Waiting for the verdict

However, there are still no reasons for the judgment.

So at the municipal council meeting one could only guess which way one could go.

One thing is certain: renovation is necessary.

So the committee decided to invest in new technology and cables.

That could cost up to 1.5 million euros.

Problem: If you don't act, the bathroom will soon no longer be able to be opened.

The pool would also have to be replaced.

The decision was made for a new stainless steel pool with a new layout: a shorter lane, but in the other half "fun elements" such as a whirlpool and neck showers.

Including a new slide, that would cost up to 1.4 million euros.

Patch pools for a few thousand euros

But the Maisacher Bad must remain a sports pool and - because then lower noise limits would apply - it must not become a fun pool.

You heard that very clearly at the court hearing, said building authority manager Petra Endres in the local council.

So no new pool, no gimmicks.

The old pool is being mended for a few thousand euros and should last for the next few years.

"As soon as we make structural changes that significantly increase the attractiveness of the bathroom, the judgment of the court could change," warned Petra Endres.

The pool is to be patched before the start of the 2022 bathing season.

The intervention in the technology could be done in autumn 2022.

At the request of outdoor swimming pool consultant Christian Kemether (CSU), it should be determined what the renovation of showers, changing rooms and toilets in the existing building would cost.

Because if the bathroom stays on site - there was no longer any mention of a new building elsewhere - then investments must also be made here.

In the opinion of the administration, renovating the existing building should not be a problem.

Building bars could block out noise

A possible new direction could be pointed out as soon as an expert opinion commissioned by the municipality is available: An engineering office is currently determining whether and how a building block between the pool and the housing estate would minimize the noise from the bathroom.

The planners also want to wait for the reasons for the judgment.

Fun elements on re-submission

Therefore, the municipal council decided not to put the planning with the fun elements aside.

You want to wait for the report.

“But there is never one hundred percent legal certainty,” emphasized building authority manager Petra Endres.

The plaintiff could go on appeal or appeal.

Or another resident of the Maisach outdoor pool could sue.
