Regarding the establishment of the committee, she said that 6 of the 10 seats belonged to the medical profession. They were the Chief Executive of the Hospital Authority, the Director of the Department of Health, the Chairman of the Medical Committee, the Chairman of the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chinese Medicine. .

Of the remaining four persons appointed by the Chief Executive, three will be members of the Medical Council. The government tends to consider lay members within the Medical Council "as a balance and user perspective."

Chen Zhaoshi pointed out that the special registration committee will consist of 10 people and will consider appointing non-industry members.

She said that the committee will review the courses of overseas universities, including whether the courses are similar to those in Hong Kong, whether the knowledge and clinical parts are ideal, etc., to determine the list of approved medical schools. She pointed out that the standards of overseas universities need to be consistent with those of local medical schools, but emphasized not only Just look at the ranking.

As for the number of accredited medical schools, she said that she would not "limit a number" and leave it to the committee to decide. Earlier, it was suggested that there should be no more than 100, so that the committee would not spend too much time reviewing overseas universities. She pointed out that a committee will be set up within this month and will meet next month to discuss the framework. It is expected that the list will be drawn up in the second half of next year, but she is not sure whether it will be released before July next year, stressing that it will be "as soon as possible."
