Penzberg - Marianne Fesl has a lot of stress early this morning on Saturday (23 October). The 2nd chairwoman of the Breitfilz Leisure Garden Association guides various interested parties and applicants through the facility. After years of uncertainty, life in the leisure gardens has been "really gaining momentum" for a few weeks, says club boss Paul Hattemer. On Saturday around 25 committed members started with important work, supported by the city and a local landscaping company. Four temporary protection habitats for sand lizards are being established. Four of the approximately four square meters each made of gravel, fleece, stones, sand and stones are created. There are also six large permanent systems. A total of 350 square meters will be laid out and 100 tons of material will be used. All carefully distributed over the 13 hectare site. The protection zones were an essential requirement of the Lower Nature Conservation Authority for the new development plan. This is currently in the approval process.

City helped gardeners

The building committee unanimously launched the development plan in January. Important decisions were taken by the authorities in June. The district office had lifted its decision on a lease and use ban - the tenants were allowed to officially re-enter their parcels. The district authority was convinced of the planned development plan including the planned expansion of the infrastructure. On June 15, the city administration brought the land tenants back to normal with an official announcement about the "implementation of fire protection" (Rundschau reported). That ended a long hanging game. The inadequate fire protection and the lack of legal bases culminated in a ban on entry imposed by the city in 2019 and in a ban on leasing issued by the district office in 2018.“The continued existence of Breit fi lz was on the brink and the old tenants were more than just insecure,” recalls club chairman Hattemer. The Breitfilz Leisure Garden Association was officially registered in September last year. Instead of many individual tenants, the city wanted to have a permanent contact person in the future.

The preliminary lease agreement has been signed

At the beginning of July the time had finally come: Hattemer and Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU) signed a preliminary lease agreement between the city and the association. The association was now able to allocate individual properties and accept members from September 1st. Within a very short time, more than 200 members were accepted into the association and provided with land, reports the chairman. Overall, Hattemer expects members to be between 300 and 400 people. There are around 300 plots of 200 to 500 square meters in the complex. "Penzbergers and citizens of neighboring communities now have the opportunity to apply for membership and a sublease contract," says Hattemer. This applies until there is a general lease agreement with the city. Mayor Korpan expects this to be set up in 2022.Then the development plan should also become legally binding. According to Korpan, “no major difficulties are to be expected”. He emphasizes: "We meet the requirements."

Visits possible

The Breitfilz Leisure Garden Association offers guided tours of one of the parcels to those interested.

Information on this can be found on the notice boards at the entrances to the site.

Two kilometers of new paths

However, work still needs to be done on the infrastructure.

The habitats should be in place by the end of the year.

The construction of the extinguishing water tank with its 48,000 liters is also ongoing.

The wider escape routes should be in place by next year.

A network of paths over two kilometers in length was specially designed for this purpose.

Town hall chief Korpan had put a sum of around 650,000 euros in the room for the entire package.

And a club hut at the main entrance is planned.

But there is still no schedule for this.

“But it will certainly be a must”, emphasizes Chairman Hattemer about the growing abandonment of the Breitfilz Association.
