Significantly fewer Christmas markets in the Starnberg district: An overview

Christmas markets in Bavaria are allowed to take place this year without the 3G rule, fencing and serving ban.

Last year there were practically none, this year the markets may take place under certain conditions.

However, being allowed does not mean that they will also take place.

In Herrsching, for example, the registration period for the Christmas market scheduled for the third weekend in Advent (December 11th / 12th) runs until the beginning of November. Although the majority of the town council had spoken out in favor of the market, one had to "see how many people register," says town hall spokeswoman Kathrin Engelhardt.

The rules are one of the reasons why the Gautingen Christmas market has been canceled for this year. It is usually organized by the trade association together for Gauting (ZfG). On the one hand, “the requirements are too high”, on the other hand, many stand operators have already canceled in advance, reports chairman Harald Ruhbaum. In addition, the containers of the Corona test center are at the town hall, which affects the space and mood. In Unterbrunn there will be a market "on a small scale" at the Landgasthof Böck on the weekend of November 19-21. He is talking to the fire brigade, says landlord Simon Wankerl. Employees should check the entrance so that it doesn't get too crowded. The team is not planning a new edition of the “drive-thru” market, this year the market “will not be raised so large that we paralyze Unterbrunn,” says Wankerl.

The municipality of Tutzing has not yet made a decision.

The charitable Advent market of the Lions Club Starnberger See on the first weekend of Advent (November 27th / 28th) will take place, albeit in a different form.

The Lions Club is again offering a Christmas tree sale and a raffle, which President Karsten Engel is pleased to see, after all, the Christmas market is the second largest event after the golf tournament and the Christmas tree sale is "the main source of income".

However, the popular Christmas market at the Hotel La Villa in Niederpöcking has been canceled. "That is just too uncertain for us," says director Margarete Schultes. On the one hand, one does not know what is still going to happen with regard to Corona, on the other hand, a market with supervisors who have to point out distances and dissolve crowds is simply "inconsistent".

"We will definitely need a security service," says Jakobus Ciolek, cultural representative of the community of Gilching. There will definitely be a Christmas market, he says, even if he still has to plan a lot with reservations. What is certain is that “we have to work with large intervals when distributing the huts”. It is also likely that it will take place on the market square on the second weekend in December (December 11th / 12th). There will probably not be a fairy tale hut for the children, as no distances can be maintained in it.

The concept is still being worked on in Seefeld, after all, the three-day Christmas market organized by the associations on the first weekend of Advent (November 26th to 28th) in the inner courtyard of the palace does not only attract locals.

Instead, there should be the Andechs village Christmas at the school in Erling on the second weekend in Advent.
