The Transport Department predicts that there will be significant traffic congestion in many places in Hong Kong, and appeals to the public to plan their trips as soon as possible and make full use of railway services.

The Hong Kong Government expects that the road closure arrangement will not be lifted until about 4:30 pm on Sunday (24th).


In the early morning of the day of the competition, the first trains of the 8 MTR railways will leave early. The first trains of the Tuen Ma Line and East Rail Line leave at 3:25 in the morning. There will also be five special bus lines to pick up runners to the starting point.


This year, the whole Malaysia route will start from Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, pass the West Kowloon Highway and Stonecutters Bridge, cross the Ting Kau Bridge, turn back to West Kowloon, and cross the sea through the Western Harbour Crossing to Hong Kong Island, and end at Victoria Park.

The half-marathon route is similar to that of the whole Marathon, but the turning point is at Tsing Kwai Highway; the 10-km race starts from the Western Harbour Crossing and heads to Victoria Park.

At 11:30 pm on Saturday night, the road will be closed for several major arterial roads, the West Tunnel to Kowloon, and traffic will continue as usual

According to the Transport Department, road closures will begin at 11:30 pm on Saturday night. There are also roads in various districts such as Argyle Street and Nathan Road in Yau Tsim Mong, as well as in Cheung Sha Wan and Kwai Tsing districts, as well as Ting Kau Bridge. Both Stonecutters Bridge will be closed, but the Transport Department emphasized that it will not affect vehicles going to the airport. However, the route will be diverted to the airport via Tuen Mun Highway or Tai Lam Tunnel.

Traffic from the West Crossing to Kowloon will continue, and the tunnel to Hong Kong Island will be closed from 0:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Road closure is expected to affect nearly 270 buses and minibuses until 4:30 pm on Sunday

Affected by road closures, about 230 bus routes and 40 green minibus routes have to be rerouted, shortened or suspended in stages until the roads are reopened on Sunday.

During the road closure period, bus stops, taxi stands, taxi pick-up and drop-off points, public light bus/green light bus stops, on-street parking spaces, and private car parks in the closed area and adjacent areas will be temporarily suspended due to the situation.

The government expects that the road closure will be arranged until about 4:30 pm on Sunday. The Transport Department urges the public to use railway services as much as possible that day and pay attention to diversions and changes in station locations.
