Altomünster -

Counteracting climate change by expanding solar energy - that is what both the Altomünster community and the Bayernwerk are committed to.

The Environment and Sustainability Committee now followed up on the July meeting of the municipal council, which was already about “green electricity”.

On Tuesday evening, the committee talked in the presence of several listeners about a possible transformer station to bundle the energy generation from the existing PV systems such as the one in Schmelchen, which is to be expanded, and a planned one, such as one at Pfaffenhofen. Above all, you want to avoid that every operator of a PV park operates his own substation. Instead, with the help of Bayernwerk, PV systems from various operators are to be combined by building a central substation into which between 60 and 80 megawatts can be fed - with potential for expansion.

One shouldn't think of the large substation at Bachern, emphasized managing director Christian Richter. “Ours will be a very small house number.” To be more precise, it will be a building of around 60 square meters on a plot of land with a space requirement of around 70 square meters. The plant could be built turnkey by Bayernwerk, as Simon Schmitt from Bayernwerk-Netz AG explained. Schmitt had already presented the project together with a colleague in July.

Mayor Michael Reiter intends to find a central point as close as possible to the 110 kv line that runs through the municipality.

According to Simon Schmitt, an area near the “line kink” in the Zeitlbachtal is one of the possible locations.

A location on Sielenbacher Flur was also discussed, where a preliminary construction inquiry is already underway.

For construction and operation, however, a company must first be established between Bayernwerk and Markt Altomünster.

This in turn concludes preliminary contracts with the PV park owners, who essentially finance the project through construction subsidies.

Regional financial institutions are also being brought on board, says Schmitt.

Schmitt estimated around 3.2 million euros for the construction and installation of the facility.

In addition, there are around 30,000 to 40,000 euros in annual maintenance costs, which, however, do not have to be paid by the operator, but rather come back through feed-in fees.

In this project, the market has a share of 25 percent.

A citizens' energy company, as it was discussed in July, is also possible.

Interested citizens invest smaller or larger amounts as an “attractive investment opportunity” with returns of two to three percent per year, as Schmitt explained.

The chairman of the CSU parliamentary group, Roland Schweiger, was skeptical about profit distributions and profitability.

"I would be very satisfied if it ended with zero," he said and asked for "reliable figures".

Schmitt emphasized that such a system, which could be ready in about two years, is already feasible with a feed-in capacity of 35 megawatts.

Roland Schweiger also wants future developments to be included, such as wind turbines.

Schweiger estimates that sooner or later the 10-H rule will fall.

Christian Richter pointed out, however, that the municipality lacked the planning basis for this.

There was nothing to decide that evening.

On Tuesday, October 26th, the municipal council will deal with solar energy again.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the town hall.
