The Syrian national football team for short stature will participate in the first Arab international championship, which will start the day after tomorrow in the Jordanian capital Amman, along with the teams of Iraq, Egypt and Jordan.
The director of the team, Fadl Al-Nayef, explained to SANA reporter that this is the first foreign participation of our national team after eight months of its formation, so it is important in terms of gaining experience and contact with teams that are more ready and prepared, pointing out that the process of reaching the current squad took a long time, during which many players were tried. To choose the most appropriate and best for our team, which is waiting for several external participations.
For his part, the coach of the national team, Firas Taftnazi, indicated that the team underwent a closed training camp during the last period in the Martyr Nasih Alwani Sports Hall in Hama, during which training was intensified in order to raise the players’ physical fitness, achieve understanding and harmony between them and experiment with tactical plans. He said that the preparation period for the tournament was short, but with persistence. And determination can achieve positive results, knowing that participation alone is a great gain for this category of players.
In turn, the captain of the team, Muhammad Sharour Mido, revealed that the players' morale is high and they have a great determination to represent Syria in this tournament, which is being held for the first time at the Arab level, indicating that the tournament is an appropriate opportunity to prepare for the Sharm El-Sheikh International Championship, which will be held next month in Egypt.
The squad includes Fadi Al-Halabi, a physiotherapist, Fakher Al-Masry, assistant coach, Mamdouh Al-Khashan, administrative assistant, Fadi Jarwan, media coordinator, and 11 players, including Muhammad Sharrour Mido, Ammar Khuzam, Nidal Al-Abdullah, Abdul Rahman Al-Tarn, Husam Al-Tarn, Ahmed Diban, Ahmed Al-Rajab, Muhammad Al-Muhammad, Mahmoud Al-Hafian, Omar Al-Omar and Abdullah.
It is noteworthy that at the conclusion of the first Arab championship, the Arab Football Federation for short stature will be established, which will include the teams of Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Morocco, Lebanon and Sudan.
