The police in Hürth (Rhein-Erft district) overpowered a 31-year-old after he had shot several times in an alleged psychological crisis and had broken into a family's house.
An officer used a taser against the man, who was then taken to a hospital, the police said on Saturday.
Accordingly, the man first called the police on Friday evening and announced his suicide.
Hürth - Shortly afterwards, he was found on a forest path, where he aimed a gun at himself and the police officers and shot several times in the air.
Then he fled through the forest to a nearby residential area and forcibly entered a residential building, the police said.
Several residents were therefore in the house, but were not injured.
Finally, the 31-year-old left the house surrounded by the police.
When instructed to do so, he initially put the weapon away, but then ran up to the officers and was overwhelmed by the use of the taser.
