The Director of the National Center for Energy Research, Dr. Younis Ali, stated that Law No. 23 of 2021 to establish a fund to support the use of renewable energies and raise energy efficiency is an important step in the field of completing and creating a supportive and encouraging legislative environment to benefit from alternative energy sources.
In a statement to the representative of Sana Bin Ali, the law contributes to achieving the strategy of renewable energies adopted until 2030 and encouraging consumers to move towards these renewable energies.
Ali pointed out that according to the law, the fund will provide financial support to energy consumers who wish to establish a project to benefit from renewable sources by providing interest-free loans or by covering the fund for the benefits of loans granted by banks to implement renewable energy applications.
Ali indicated that the fund will support all types and types of renewable energies, "sun, wind and vital", but what projects it supports in each of the targeted sectors will be determined, in line with the nature and activity of each sector.
Ali explained that the basis for providing support, the ceiling of loans, the methods of granting them, the term of payment and other matters related to the work of the Fund will be issued by a decision of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers after the formation of the Board of Directors of the Fund, in which the ministries and relevant authorities are represented.
After forming the board of directors, the National Center for Energy Research will propose a list of companies implementing renewable energy projects, according to specific and announced principles and conditions, as these companies possess standards and technical competence that qualify them to implement these projects at the required level and quality.
Law No. 23 of 2021 was issued on the nineteenth of October this year to establish a fund to support the use of renewable energies and raise energy efficiency. The ministry has a fund called the Fund to support the use of renewable energies and raise energy efficiency, which has legal personality and financial and administrative independence. It is based in Damascus and linked to the minister. It has branches in the governorates by a decision of the Minister.
