- There has probably not been such a consensus in the main and finance committee for a long time: In the most recent committee meeting, there were only positive statements in the debate about the creation of a new town hall staff position for “climate protection and sustainability”.
In times of advancing climate change, a community with just under 13,000 inhabitants can no longer ignore the topic.
The initiative to hire a climate manager comes from the Greens and the citizens' association.
In a joint application, they describe climate change and the restructuring of society to a “grandchildren-friendly way of life” as the central challenge of the next few years.
But that also requires the necessary structures.
State funding programs make it easier to get started
"The environmental issue is very complicated," stated Michele D'Amico (Greens) in the committee. The market council is technically overtaxed to plan the necessary steps and measures. Conny Wutz (citizens' association) said: “We local councils can't do that out of the ground on our own.” It is important that climate management is embedded in an independent staff unit: “It would be a shame,” said Wutz, “if we didn't would implement. ”But it doesn't look like that: The personnel costs for an air conditioning manager could be subsidized for at least two years by up to 65 percent through a state subsidy program. “Then we would have already made it into the market. The funding rate is relatively high, ”explained Johannes Pfleger, Head of the Town Hall. The administration also knocked in Polling and Hohenpeißenberg,whether they would be interested in a joint employment of a climate manager. But the two municipalities waved them off. Polling, for example, is already working closely with the energy competence center of the “Energiewende Oberland” (EWO).
The central task of the climate manager should be the CO2 balance
In the committee, Christian Quecke (CSU / non-party) analyzed that the areas of activity of the climate manager in some areas could not be clearly delimited from other specialist areas. Therefore, tasks from other and possibly overloaded departments can also be "switched" to the new staff position. Walter Wurzinger (Free Voters), in turn, said that the CO2 balance must be the basis for the work of the climate manager. “We now have to take this as a first step as quickly as possible.” Only recently, the market council decided to have a CO2 footprint drawn up for Peißenberg - namely via the EWO competence center as part of the BISKO standard (accounting system Municipal). Concrete climate goals are then to be formulated on the basis of the results.
Peter Blome (SPD) also found the employment of a climate manager “generally welcome”: “But I still need a few key data.” What training should management have and which salary grouping?
And what happens after the funding?
"If it is limited to two years, will we even get anyone smart?", Says Blome.
It was the only cautious concern raised in the committee.
Blome then also agreed to the preliminary deliberative proposal for the acceptance of the application.
"A climate manager is absolutely necessary in Peißenberg - as a full-time and permanent position," said 2nd Mayor Robert Halbritter (SPD).
