Yvelines: traffic disrupted on the D988 during the All Saints holidays

2021-10-23T16:23:37.140Z

As of Monday, 427 trees will be replaced on the D988 between Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines and Ablis. As a result, the road will be closed

RD 988 users will have to briefly change their habits.

The portion between Saint-Arnoult and Ablis will be closed to traffic for five to six days between Monday and until Friday, November 5.

To get to Ablis, motorists will have to go through Sonchamp by taking the RD176 and RD936 then the N10.

This traffic interruption will make it possible to launch the operation to renew the trees located along the road.

These fifty-year-old poplars are in poor condition and threaten the safety of motorists, according to the department.

For 427 trees felled, 471 will be replanted.

To respect the flora and fauna already installed on the site, "a complete ecological diagnosis has been established", explains one to the departmental council.

In order to avoid relaunching tree cutting in fifty years, the poplars will be replaced by plane trees, lime trees or even elms.

The work will take place in three phases.

The first, which will last four months, consists of felling and stump removal between the entrance to Ponthévrard and the Chemin des Rentes.

The second should take place in the fall of 2022 between the same path and the structure above the A11.

The last sentence, scheduled for 2023, will be from the end of the road to Ablis.

"The calendar is adapted to the biological cycles of the species identified", specifies the interdepartmental road service.
