The investigation into the murder and disappearance case in Jerusalem 35 years ago continues, and as part of it, arrests of other suspects involved in the events are expected. Since the affair began a week ago, eight suspects have been arrested, three of whom have since been released to their homes. Most of the detainees were members of the Shuvu Banim community in the 1980s.

Two other suspects were arrested on Thursday in connection with the disappearance of the boy Nissim Sheetrit in 1986. One of them was identified as being brought in for questioning a year before the abduction, when Sheetrit complained that he had been beaten by him. After that incident three decades ago, the suspect was released, and this time too, the judge was unimpressed by the police allegations and believed that there was no evidence to link him to Sheetrit's disappearance, so he decided to release him.

Later, the police requested a stay of execution on the decision not to extend the suspect’s detention, but the court denied the request. Also, the additional suspect who was arrested, was released at the end of the police investigation under restrictive conditions to house arrest for five days. Another detainee was released last week at the police station.

The other six detainees in the case, including five men and a woman, are suspected of involvement in the murder of Avi Edri as well as Sheetrit's disappearance.

Of these, one arrested on Tuesday was released to his home that day.

Data permit is still in custody.

One of the detainees is the son of a former minister, who is considered one of Rabbi Berland's associates.

During the investigations that took place last week, clashes took place between the suspect woman and some of the suspects.

In between interrogations, the suspect woman was heard saying in a conversation with her family members "what stable cleaning I did."

The breakthrough that led to the arrest of the suspects in the affair came after IDF investigators tracked down those involved in the affair over the past year using intelligence information, and only then did suspicions emerge about their involvement in the events that enabled their arrest.

Investigating the disappearance of 17-year-old Nissim Sheetrit is more difficult and complex for the investigative unit, due to the fact that collecting forensic findings and locating the operations - without a specific body and place that can be scanned - has greatly challenged the investigation team and allowed those involved to evade trial.

Most of the suspects arrested so far joined the Shuvu Banim community in the 1980s and some were considered community leaders and close associates of Eliezer Berland.

They later left the community one by one, some over the past decade.

In the return community, Berland's sons and loyalists believe that the opening of the murder and disappearance investigation is intended to tie Berland to events and cause him to be kept inside the prison walls, where he is expected to enter next week to serve his sentence.
