After two weeks of autumn vacation, everyday school life in Rhineland-Palatinate begins again this Monday with tests for the corona virus.

With a view to the increased risk of vacation trips, according to the Ministry of Education, all schools have two “prevention weeks” with a test on Monday and another test during the week.

From November 8th, as before the holidays, one test per week is planned.

Mainz - Of the around 522,000 students in Rhineland-Palatinate - including young people at vocational schools, 1038 were infected before the autumn holidays, according to data from the Supervision and Service Directorate (ADD), which corresponds to a share of 0.2 percent.

455 of the 1624 schools in the country were affected by cases of infection.

Two weeks after the summer vacation it was still 707.

The mask requirement in schools depends on the warning level in a municipality.

With the currently generally existing warning level 1, mouth and nose protection only has to be worn indoors, but not in the area or outdoors.

At warning level 2, the mask requirement in secondary schools also applies on the field, i.e. during lessons in the classroom.

Only in warning level 3 do the little ones in elementary school have to wear a mask in class.
