Schmid (Biberach), who is now taking over the position of deputy.
In the constituent meeting of the association assembly in the Mindelheim forum, in addition to the commitment of the new association councilors for the tenth electoral term, the election of the new chairman and his deputy took place. These are elected for three years from among the members, alternately from Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. Since with Dr. Heiko Schmid has accompanied a Baden-Württemberg resident in the office for the past three years, the Bavarian District Administrator Dr. Hans Reichhart was proposed for the head of the regional association and elected unanimously. District Administrator Dr. Heiko Schmid takes over the post of deputy from Memmingen's Lord Mayor Manfred Schilder, also after a unanimous election.
The main task of the new chairman over the next three years will be to complete the update of the new regional plan. This defines the spatial development of the Danube-Iller region, which crosses national borders, in terms of objectives and principles of spatial planning. In the next step, under the leadership of the new chairman, the changes to the draft regional plan resulting from the first consultation procedure must be resolved and the second consultation procedure initiated. But other spatial planning tasks and projects in the area of settlement, environment, transport and economy are also carried out under the chairmanship of Dr. Be tough to drive forward in the next few years.
