China successfully launched a new satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwestern Sichuan Province today.
Xinhua said that the "Shijian/21" satellite was launched aboard a "Long March/3B" carrier rocket and entered the planned orbit successfully.
She added that the new satellite will be used to test and verify space debris reduction technologies, adding that this is the 393rd mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.
