The fuel gauge kept blinking - but a 68-year-old driver from Osnabrück drove on until his car broke down and there was an accident.
The police spoke on Sunday of an avoidable accident, the damage of which amounts to at least 25,000 euros.
The 68-year-old's car stopped on Saturday on the federal road 68 near Hesepe (Osnabrück district) because the engine went out.
Hesepe - A 31-year-old driver realized the obstacle too late.
He avoided the 68-year-old who had got out of his car, but collided with the stationary vehicle.
Both drivers were uninjured.
