Helsinki - Sana

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin considered that the decision of the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to expel the ambassadors of ten countries from Turkey under the pretext of calling for the release of the Turkish dissident Osman Kavala, who is imprisoned in his prisons, is shocking and very unfortunate.

"This is a very unfortunate situation," Marin told Finnish television station Yili. "It is important to respect and comply with the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, and we demanded the release of the human rights activist."

Marin called on the Turkish regime to provide clarifications in this regard, and said: "Finland is waiting for more information from Ankara before drawing any conclusions."

In turn, a researcher at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs "Tony Alaranta" said that the aim behind Erdogan's actions is to distract attention from internal issues in Turkey, stressing that "it is largely related to the fact that domestic support for Erdogan is at the bottom, in addition to the fact that the economy is witnessing a significant deterioration and the exchange rate The Turkish lira continues to decline.”

Several European countries condemned Erdogan’s decision to expel the ambassadors of ten countries from Turkey: Canada, France, Finland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and the United States, under the pretext of their call for the release of Kavala, who is detained in his prisons, and for creating a diplomatic crisis, stressing his insistence on his repressive policies against his opponents.

The Council of Europe had threatened Erdogan's regime with punitive measures that could be approved during its next session if Kavala was not released during the continuation of his trial, as the measures against Turkey could reach the suspension of voting rights and even membership in the Council.
