The beginning of a trend? In response to the tragedy that struck Hollywood, in which the actor shot and accidentally killed Lina Hutchins, it was decided in the production of a famous TV series to stop using real weapons on filming sites

Hollywood continues to stir after the horrific filming accident over the weekend, in which photographer Halina Hutchins was killed by a gunshot wound aimed at actor Alec Baldwin on the set of the film Rust.

Although the investigation into the incident is still in progress and it will probably take at least a few more days until it is determined exactly what happened there, there are more and more voices in the industry demanding to completely avoid using real weapons on photo sites, even those allegedly tested and pre-loaded with idle bullets.

The first TV series whose leaders have made the decision to discontinue "hot" weapons is the police drama "Rookie" with Nathan Pelion of the ABC network, which is owned by the Disney Corporation and is now airing in its fourth season.

"Currently, the new policy in 'Rookie' is that all shooting on the set will be done using air pistols, with Reshef being added after the filming by computer effects," series director Alexei Hawley wrote on Friday.

But the "rookie" move, most likely, is just the beginning of a trend that will soon wash over Hollywood.

A new petition posted on Change.org, which aims to remove guns and other real weapons from photo sites, currently has about 15,000 signatures.

The man behind the petition is director and screenwriter Bender Albolivi, a friend of the late Hutchins, who wrote: "We need to make sure this tragedy, which could have been avoided, will never happen again. There is no justification for such a thing to happen in the 21st century. There is no need for real guns anymore. On sets. "

Alboli even approached Baldwin directly and demanded that he use his influence in Hollywood to bring about change, a change that is likely to materialize in the near future.
