Sima Shane, a former senior official at the Mossad, said in a "15 Minutes" podcast by Yossi Hadar that "there is no doubt that Iran has progressed since withdrawing from the nuclear agreement, towards the production of a nuclear bomb."
She added that "Iran has enough fissile material to produce one nuclear bomb within a month"
Shane, head of the Iran program at the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University and who served as head of the institute's research division, explains that after withdrawing from the agreement, Iran began enriching uranium to 60% and its level of oversight fell. "A first-rate strategic threat."
"15 minutes" with Yossi Hadar: "Iran is preparing to produce a nuclear bomb"
She added that technically, the amount of material in Iran's possession is enough for one nuclear bomb, but the decision to produce one is a political decision - and Tehran is not yet in that place.
"Israel has a military option against the Iranian nuclear program, and it is clear to all that the American capability is even greater, but the best way to stop Iran is through an agreement. Cyber warfare and assassinations can deter, but not prevent, Iran from producing a nuclear bomb," she added.
She also criticized Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and his predecessor, Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming that they and others exposed Mossad actions on the subject: "This is a mistake, this exposure is unnecessary. The power and strength of the Mossad is higher when everything is secret. .
Shane noted that "we must not contain a nuclear Iran, otherwise Saudi Arabia and Egypt could also advance nuclear weapons production."
