The annual program presented by the government will include strengthening the chain of enforcement of violent crime among Israeli Arabs • Bennett: "A common goal of the Israeli government with the Arab public"

The government today (Sunday) approved the multi-year national plan for dealing with the effects of crime and violence in Arab society for the years 2022-2026.

According to the claim, the plan will include strengthening the enforcement chain, including necessary legislative amendments.

Emphasis will be placed on economic and integrated enforcement (along with classic criminal enforcement and the plan will include increasing governance and local authority coping capacity).

It was further argued that the government would introduce a combination of "soft" tools for treatment and prevention - targeted treatment of young Arabs who for a long time are not in a permanent setting of employment, studies or vocational training, educational responses, rehabilitation continuum and strengthening community resilience.

The plan will also include increasing cooperation between the ministries and carrying out close monitoring and control of the implementation of the plan.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said at the beginning of the cabinet meeting: "Today we approve the national plan to fight crime from the Arab sector, which, as we saw over the weekend, is flowing throughout the country. The plan amounts to an additional NIS 2.5 billion. I wish success to all government ministries. "A one-sided task, it is not just a task of the government, it is a common goal of the Israeli government with the Arab public. The state will do its thing, but the Arab street must be shot as well. It will not be easy, but we must succeed."

The Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev, said: "The decision we made today is a precedent and indicates that the entire government is clear that the violence and crime on the Arab street poses a threat to the State of Israel. However, this decision harnesses the entire government to mobilize through many mechanisms that clean up this important goal. We will succeed. "
