Puchheim - International Girls' Day is a day of action initiated by the United Nations (UN).
Every year on October 11th it is supposed to give an occasion to point out the disadvantages of girls around the world.
On this day, girls can take over key positions in business, politics, media and society in so-called takeover campaigns.
First Mayor Norbert Seidl had invited to take over his desk for one day in the mayor's office by swapping roles on Monday, October 11th. Curious and with great interest, Medina (ten years old) and Sarah (15 years old) took up the special offer.
After a brief welcome in the morning in the town hall and the swearing-in ceremony, the girls received a brief introduction to the mayor's office before they attended their first “official” appointment, the “management” of the head of department meeting that took place on that day. This was followed by a tour of the town hall and the city library, an insight into the office of the mayor's team and a video call with the second mayor of the city of Munich, Katrin Habenschaden. After lunch, Sarah and Medina had the opportunity to attend a committee meeting preparation and do general administrative work.
The two girls took over their office with joy and commitment. When asked how they experienced the day, what they particularly liked and whether they could imagine becoming mayor themselves one day, Sarah replied: “I found it very exciting to be at the meeting of the heads of unit and to talk about them To discuss the establishment of a “children's fire brigade”. I am still undecided as to whether I would like to become mayor later. ”And Medina added:“ I think it's great that we saw the entire town hall and that we were able to have a say in so much. I could also imagine being mayor later, but my real wish is to become an astrophysicist. "
