The Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Lattakia begins disbursing the compensation of the second batch to those affected by the fires erupted in the countryside of the governorate during the period from the 9th to the 11th of October last year, starting from the first of next month.

The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Basem Doba, explained after a meeting in the directorate held for this purpose with the aim of organizing the compensation distribution program that the directorate had completed all the required arrangements to start distributing compensation, which will be carried out in parallel in all regions … which comes as a continuation of the government’s efforts to compensate those affected by the fires to re-empower them and encourage them to reinvest their land and production again.

Doba indicated that the second batch of compensation is estimated at 25 percent of the total compensation for the affected farmers, amounting to about 6,405 billion Syrian pounds, which will be distributed to about 19,866 farmers.

He pointed out that the funds are ready in the banks, and there will be committees in each area that will tour the affected villages to reach the farmers in their villages to reduce their burdens and financial costs, explaining that the distribution program and the targeted villages will be announced in advance, respectively.

He pointed out that the Directorate, with the support of the Lattakia Governorate, secured the headquarters where compensation will be distributed, whether in the guidance units of the Directorate or in one of the headquarters of the public authorities to ensure the organization of work and facilitate the work of the committees, stressing that the compensation will be delivered to the concerned person exclusively or under a duly certified legal agency.

It is noteworthy that the Directorate of Agriculture distributed, during the past year, an amount of 13.5 billion Syrian pounds to farmers affected by the fires, according to 50 percent of the value of the compensation, with the rest of the compensation being completed during the next year.
