A 27-year-old girl locked up by her partner called the police and fire brigade in Kyritz (Ostprignitz-Ruppin) onto the scene.
The young woman had called the police for help on Friday evening from the man's apartment via the emergency number.
The 27-year-old was so aggressive towards her that she had to flee to the bathroom after he locked her in the apartment, the police said on Sunday.
Kyritz - The man did not open the door for the police, so the Kyritz fire department was called into action.
Because the man did not respond, the police had to force open the door.
After the 27-year-old threatened the police with a cutting weapon, they used irritant gas and overpowered the angry man.
He was taken to a psychiatric ward in the nearby hospital.
During a home search, the police found narcotics and seized them.
During the operation, four police officers were slightly injured by the irritant gas used, and one officer by the man's attacks.
The 27-year-old woman was uninjured.
