Bad Tölz - The music, its students and their family: Nothing in Claudia Cofone's life was as important as these three things.

Music, in particular, shaped the life of the native of Essen, who taught countless children and young people throughout the Isarwinkel to sing or to play an instrument.

Now the popular music teacher, who ran her own small music school in Bad Tölz for many years, passed away at the age of 58 after a short, serious illness.

She awakened a love of music even in the little ones

“My mother worked as a music teacher in Tölzer Land for over 25 years,” recalls her daughter Deborah.

Her mother worked primarily in early musical education and thus aroused a love for notes and tones even in the youngest children.

With her music lessons, she also paved the way for many children and young people to learn music.

Claudia Cofone from Essen initially ended up in Munich through her teaching degree.

When she became a mother, she moved to Jachenau so that her three children could grow up in the country.

Here, says Deborah Cofone, her mother, who has always played a lot in her private life, started giving music lessons to neighbors' children.

"And then she gradually expanded it."

In 2008 Claudia Cofone founded her own little music school

As her own children grew older and more independent, Claudia Cofone trained as a music teacher and music therapist.

Then she began to work as a freelance music teacher at a free music school in Bad Tölz.

As a music teacher, her mother taught a wide variety of instruments, says Deborah Cofone, citing the recorder, piano and guitar as examples.

However, her focus has always been on early musical education.

Around 2008 her mother opened her own little music school in the spa town and ran it with great passion until shortly before her death.

“Music was totally her thing, her great passion,” recalls Deborah Cofone.

Music therapy work with children and adolescents has always been important to her

The music therapy work with children and adolescents was also important to her mother; for example in the case of learning and attention disorders or trauma. This area of their work has become increasingly important, especially in the corona pandemic, because many families were heavily burdened when schools and daycare were closed.

With her therapeutic offers, which were able to continue despite the lockdown, “my mother totally helped many.

She had a great knack for children ”.

Many parents would have thanked their mother for this reason.

But for Claudia Cofone music was not just a job.

She also implemented them in voluntary work;

for example in projects with Lebenshilfe.

In addition, her mother supported various support programs for disadvantaged children.

And she always taught refugee children free of charge, says Deborah Cofone, who will always be remembered by her mother as “an incredibly positive person”.

Claudia Cofone received a severe diagnosis in July.

Then everything happened very quickly, says Deborah Cofone.

Her mother passed away on October 5th - two days after her 58th birthday.

At home and surrounded by their family.
