At the weekend, dogs and their dog handlers took part in a person search training in and around Havelberg (Stendal district).
The so-called mantrailing describes the search for a person reported missing on the basis of their individual smell, announced the German Red Cross on Sunday.
The dogs can therefore search for the person on the basis of a smell particle - for example on a T-shirt.
Havelberg - This is even possible in inhabited areas, as they can block out the smell of bystanders.
27 people took part in the training.
The teams had to pursue and find the person they were looking for in various tasks.
Among other things, three teams from the DRK took part in the seminar, which, according to their own statements, want to take their test to become a certified tracker dog in Stendal and the surrounding area in November.
