It is an exemplary initiative: the Moosburg social project "Aunt Emma".

The fifth anniversary was celebrated at the weekend.

Moosburg

- On the occasion of the five-year existence of the Moosburg social project "Aunt Emma", the association members invited to an entertaining gala evening in the auditorium of the adult education center.

District Administrator Helmut Petz also liked the concept of the second-hand goods store with a meeting place: "I like my aunt," he revealed in his greeting.

The need to volunteer seems to be great in Moosburg. Within five years, civic engagement has turned an idea into a flourishing network with offers of help. Chairman Johannes Becher recalled how it began. When the Moosburg social department store “NoWaswert” had to close its doors five years ago, the idea that “you should do something” was circling more and more in his head. In Klaus Reichel he found a colleague who then took matters into his own hands. "I'm in", the former city council is said to have said. An association was founded and, thanks to start-up funding from the district and city of Moosburg, a shop was opened on Bahnhofstrasse. There you could offer the goods donated by citizens and companies at very reasonable prices.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

A network for people in need

In addition to selling clothes, shoes and boots, toy cars, dishes, soft toys and small household appliances, the room was always intended as a meeting place, said Becher.

You can also meet there without buying anything.

Aunt Emma also acts as a network for people in need.

During the corona pandemic, neighborhood shopping aids were even organized.

The advantage: "Suddenly people who had never seen each other before and talked to each other," said the chairman.

Becher also emphasized that the whole thing had even paid off economically and economically in the past five years. In the meantime, they have paid more taxes than they have received start-up funding. For several years there has even been a surplus that is regularly passed on to social institutions in the Dreirosenstadt. The money is well managed and "a win for Moosburg". You are also doing something good for the environment. Goods in good condition do not have to be disposed of, but can be reused.

"The right concept, the right people with the right attitude," Petz attested to the club members.

That is service to the common good, ”thanked the district administrator.

By the way: Becher invited him to stop by at Aunt Emma's too.

If the goods are too cheap, you can add a little more, he said with a wink.

"Anyone can come in and buy."

"Encouraging sign for solidarity, humanity and citizenship"

Aunt Emma "conquered the hearts of the Moosburgers", said 2nd Mayor Georg Hadersdorfer.

The focus is on people.

Aunt Emma is an "encouraging sign of solidarity, humanity and citizenship".

The deputy chairman, Klaus Reichel, was able to confirm that helping makes you happy.

Finally, there was an expansion of competencies for all employees in the corner shop through the "El Gecko management consultancy", alias Josef Birnkammer.

The Moosburger magician amazed with nifty tricks that could also be used for sales advice.

Birnkammer heard that Aunt Emma and Uncle Anton (community garden project by Tante Emma eV) “have something with each other”.

Maybe there might still be offspring.

Then Moosburg will be saved forever.
