Two Pakistani citizens were arrested today (Sunday) in Cyprus, after they were suspected of involvement in a cell that planned terrorist attacks against Israeli citizens in the country, the local newspaper "Politis" reported.
According to the report, the two detainees, Pakistani citizens aged 31 and 25, were holding pictures of targets they were following on their phones. We planned to carry out the attacks.
Police also found a handgun hidden by one of the detainees, apparently for the Azeri citizen who was arrested.
The two lived in an apartment complex in Limassol and hid their weapons in a hotel where one of the other suspects was staying.
In Israel, it has been claimed that Iran is behind the organization and it is possible that the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards is behind the activities of the cell.
In Cyprus, it has not been claimed so far that Iran is behind the planned attack and the reason for the suspects' actions has not been published by the country's media at all.
