Latakia-SANA

The new movie “Section” The Syrian Icon Project, which was launched by the Artists Syndicate 3 years ago, started its mass shows at Al-Kindi Cinema in Latakia, amid a large official and public presence this evening.

The film embodies part of the sacrifices and heroisms of the Syrian Arab Army, portrayed through a “war fantasy” that does not document a specific event, but rather the position of our brave soldiers as they confront the attacks of terrorist organizations, inspired by the idea of believing in victory in order to preserve the land and honor.

The writer and director of the work, “Sami Nofal,” explained in a statement to SANA that the movie “A War Fantasia” embodies the second and third cycle of the national project for the Syrian icon, which was launched by the Artists Syndicate in 2018, and presented the beginning of the concept of the people through a lyrical operetta that included an elite group of Syrian stars under the title of homeland.

Nofal pointed out that going to fantasy was for two reasons, the first of which is that it gives a wide space for the concept of drama and to convey the intellectual content of the information, and that the heroism of the Syrian Arab Army cannot embody the current production capabilities with its reality on the screen. It is purely a coincidence, but rather the result of a collective memory and a cultural heritage that extends for hundreds of years.

For his part, the hero of the film, the artist Basil Haidar, who played the character of Lieutenant-Colonel Ahed, considered that a section presents a different cinematic proposition at the level of cinema in Syria and constitutes a realistic case as it relates to the heroisms made by the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army in their war on terrorism, as it constitutes a case of fantasy on the other hand when it comes to By choosing Syrian personalities engraved in our memory, the makers of the work wanted to shed light on them to remind the new generation of these great statures.

The screening of the film was attended by the Governor of Latakia, Ibrahim Khader Al-Salem, the Secretary of the Latakia branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Engineer Haitham Ismail, the head of the Latakia branch of the Artists Union and the head of the two branches of the Union of Arab Writers and Journalists, along with a large audience of fans of the seventh art.

It is noteworthy that the film, which was hosted by the Film Club at Tishreen University today as well, will continue to be shown at Kennedy Cinema in Lattakia for five days.
