Poing - piecemeal or general renovation - these two possibilities were debated in the Poing municipal council meeting on the agenda item.

It is about the "odor nuisance in the Kinderland daycare center Kirchheimer Allee 19".

Because the annoying smell has been around for a long time in the building.

Last year, an engineering office took material samples from the walls and floors of the bathrooms on the ground floor.

It was found that a flame retardant applied to the Linowall coverings can be the reason for the odor. As a measure, the engineers suggested a renovation in July, which consisted of three concepts and would cost around 350,000 euros.

Problem:

The renovation of the six bathrooms on the ground floor would take seven months and be carried out without interrupting operations. The daycare management and the porter refused, because of the excessive noise and dust nuisance.

A possible complete outsourcing of the children was checked and rejected by the Ebersberg district office. In the meantime, however, the stench has spread to the first floor and has greatly affected the stay of children and staff. Staff and some parents came to the meeting to emphasize their concerns. Experts from the engineering office were also available for statements and questions. "We need immediate measures, we owe that to children, parents and staff," said Mayor Thomas Stark, "the working environment cannot stay that way."

He also made a reassuring statement: “At no time was there a health hazard from the stench for the children or the staff. The material samples would have clearly shown that. ”Nonetheless, the committee agreed that despite“ no hazard ”measures must be taken.

Matthias Andres suggested decentralized fans that provide fresh air in the bathrooms. According to the engineering office, two rooms are already equipped with these fans, the windows of the remaining four are open all day. But there was no improvement and one could save the investment. "Before we do not know the causes, the renovation is a shot in the dark" said Yvonne Großmann, "we absolutely have to locate the stove". Peter Maier and Barbara Kellendorfer-Schmid suggested that one should talk to the construction companies involved in order to find out "which materials were used at that time" and Franz Langlechner (CSU) is interested in researching "whether there are comparable cases".

The council unanimously commissioned an immediate measure to determine the costs for decentralized ventilation systems in the common rooms on the ground floor.

“A new building is out of the question”, says Stark, “because we would have to pay back the high state subsidies”.

The reason: The funding is limited to 25 years - the facility has only been in operation for eleven years.
