Three people died in floods that affected several regions of Tunisia overnight from Saturday to Sunday, Civil Protection spokesman Moez Triaa told AFP on Sunday.
The bodies of the three victims, aged 20, 24 and 27, were found on Sunday.
In Thala, a town in the underprivileged northwest of Tunisia, two young people, aged 20 and 27, died after their car was washed away.
The third victim, a 24-year-old, died in Borj Chakir, a locality near Tunis, added Mr. Triaa.
"Deteriorated" infrastructure
Tunisia suffers from its "deteriorated" infrastructure according to senior government officials, with clogged water drainage systems, poorly structured urbanization and overflowing sewers.
In September 2020, six people including three children had lost their lives after bad weather, while at least five people had died for the same reasons in 2018.
