Wolfsburg - Bundesliga soccer team VfL Wolfsburg has parted ways with coach Mark van Bommel with immediate effect. The Lower Saxony announced this decision on Sunday around 24 hours after the 2-0 defeat against SC Freiburg. "The bottom line was that there were more dividing than connecting factors," said Sport Managing Director Jörg Schmadtke, according to the club's announcement after the eighth winless competitive game in a row. Wolfsburg has lost four times in a row in the Bundesliga after a strong start to the season.
"The conviction to get out of the difficult sporting situation in this constellation and to bring about the U-turn as quickly as possible was missing and made us decide to end the cooperation," said Schmadtke.
“We wish Mark all the best, both sportingly and privately.” Van Bommel had only taken over Champions League participant Wolfsburg from Oliver Glasner this summer.
The Austrian had switched to Eintracht Frankfurt.
