The Working Family Allowance Office has stepped up its online application service for the Working Family Allowance Scheme (WFA Scheme) in August this year.
The Secretary for Labor and Welfare, Luo Zhiguang, stated in his blog today (24) that as of the end of last month, there were approximately 61,800 active households in the WFA scheme, involving close to 210,000 people, more than double the previous low-income scheme.
He pointed out that the estimated recurrent expenditure of the WFA scheme for 2021-22 is about 1.98 billion yuan, which is about three times that of the former LFA scheme.
According to Luo Zhiguang, the WFA program provides subsidies based on working hours to encourage self-reliance. At the same time, each eligible child and youth in WFA households is provided with child allowances to alleviate inter-generational poverty. Citizens who are eligible to submit their WFA applications as soon as possible.
The number of applications submitted online rose to 25%
Luo Zhiguang said that in the last financial year, the Working Family Allowance Scheme received more than 135,000 applications, more than double the "low-income working allowance" before the 2017-18 improvement measures.
As of the end of last month, there were approximately 61,800 "active households" under the WFA program, involving nearly 210,000 people, and the lower-level subsidy program more than doubled.
He pointed out that based on constant cash benefits, WFA is the third most effective poverty alleviation policy after CSSA and elderly living allowance.
He also pointed out that starting from August, the online application service for the WFA will be strengthened to allow applicants to obtain electronic pre-filled forms through "smart convenience".
After the enhancement of services, the number of applications submitted online has doubled as a percentage of the total applications, from less than 10% in the past to 25%.
