Director of School Health at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Hatoon Al-Tawashi, stated in a statement to SANA that the number of Corona injuries in schools since the beginning of the school year until today has reached 1,418, including 1,203 injuries among teachers and administrators, and 215 injuries among students and students, while the number of deaths reached 7 cases.

The importance of the role of health educators increases with the registration of more corona infections in schools to raise awareness of ways to prevent the disease and limit its spread, as Al-Tawashi indicated on the sidelines of a workshop organized by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the World Health Organization.

Al-Tawashi stated that one of the tasks of the educators, in addition to raising awareness of healthy lifestyles and introducing students to how to maintain personal hygiene, is to fight rumors related to the disease, which sometimes limit adherence to precautionary measures and may lead some teachers to refuse to receive the vaccine and fear it.

From the World Health Organization, Dr. Iskandar Hanna highlighted the importance of the school’s role in providing the child with correct health and community habits and training them to protect themselves and their surroundings.

In turn, the head of the School Health Department in the Damascus Countryside Education Directorate, Dr. Adnan Naama, stated that most teachers have wrong ideas about the risks of the vaccine, and here comes the role of the educated to change these ideas and clarify the importance of the vaccine in protecting them, which was confirmed by the head of the School Health Department in the Homs Education Directorate, Dr. Ghiath Abbas, warning Information shared by social media is from unreliable sources.
