A 71-year-old was hit by a tram in the Hellersdorf district of Berlin on Monday afternoon and was seriously injured. The man had crossed the tracks on Riesaer Straße and apparently did not notice the approaching tram, the police said. The tram driver had initiated emergency braking, but could no longer prevent the collision.
