Great upheaval in Sudan: Prime Minister has been placed under house arrest Israel today

The military launches a wave of arrests against the country's civilian leadership • This event could mark the end of the transitional council that was supposed to lead the country from Omar al-Bashir's dictatorship to democracy

The Sudanese army opened a wave of arrests against the country's civilian leadership this morning (Monday), and Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdukh was placed under house arrest.

This event could mark the end of the Transitional Council that was supposed to lead the country from the dictatorship of Omar al-Bashir to democracy.

The events began in September, when officers close to the previous regime tried to carry out a coup attempt that soon failed.

Subsequently, a significant wave of protests and demonstrations began all over Sudan.

On October 17, thousands of civilians protested in front of the presidential palace in the capital Khartoum, demanding a "reconstruction of the coup" and better living conditions.

This was reported by the Turkish state news agency Anadolu.

The demonstrators waved flags and carried signs that read, among other things, "The patient civilians are hungry," as well as "One people, one army."

Beyond that, they shouted messages calling for the overthrow of the Transitional Council headed by Abdul Fatah al-Burhan.

Developments in Sudan may be a cause for concern for both Israel and the Biden administration, as Washington is currently working with Khartoum - with the aim of completing the normalization process, sending a permanent official Sudanese representative to Israel - and of course opening a mission.

Of all the countries in the Abrahamic Accords, Sudan is the only one that has not taken these actions.

In fact, the entire country is at a crossroads whose relations with Jerusalem are directly affected by this junction.

An official Israeli-Sudanese ceremony to sign the agreement in the White House could lead to great outrage on the streets of the country, which for years has been one of the leaders in anti-Israel anti-Israel policy.

On the other hand, the continuation of the protest and all the more so this morning's event make it difficult to advance the normalization process.

However, given the fact that Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdukh was the one who did not like to normalize relations with Israel - and those who promoted this significant step are the military leadership led by al-Burhan, then they may take the opportunity to complete the process.
