The dispute between Ernst August Prince of Hanover and his son over Marienburg Castle ends up in court.

The hearing is planned for November 25th, announced the Hanover Regional Court on Monday.

The personal appearance of the Guelph Prince and his son Ernst August Hereditary Prince of Hanover was ordered.

The lawsuit has been pending since the end of 2020.

Hanover - The head of the Guelphs, the husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco, demanded the return of the Marienburg, the Calenberg estate in the municipality of Pattensen-Schulenburg and the Princely House of Herrenhausen in Hanover.

According to the court, Ernst August Prince of Hanover bases his claim, among other things, on the revocation of a donation as a result of “gross ingratitude”, unjust enrichment and the loss of the business basis.

According to earlier information, he had given his son the property in 2004 and 2007 in anticipated succession.

According to the court, Ernst August Hereditary Prince of Hanover denies the allegations. As early as February, the 67-year-old's son stated that the lawsuit was insubstantial and that the allegations it contained were false. Out of consideration for his family, he did not want to comment on details - “also to protect my father”.

Originally, the 38-year-old wanted to sell the former summer residence of the Welfs to the public sector for one euro.

But after his father's objection, the deal negotiated with the Lower Saxony state government failed.

Then the lock and inventory were transferred to a foundation.

“The foundation solution found with the state of Lower Saxony is legally secure;

Nothing stands in the way of the long-term preservation of Marienburg as the central cultural monument of Lower Saxony, which remains publicly accessible to everyone, ”explained the junior at the time.
