It is an investigation which will have mobilized for six months the gendarmes of the research brigade of Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines).

Tuesday, October 19, thirteen thieves of DS7 and Range Rover SUV vehicles were arrested at their homes in Argenteuil and Herblay (Val-d'Oise).

Two hundred soldiers mobilized throughout Île-de-France discovered that day a stolen Range Rover awaiting delivery, specific equipment to steal their loot and a large sum of money in cash.

The criminals are suspected of having stolen twenty-three vehicles for a loss of 700,000 euros.

All unfavorably known to the police, most are in their twenties.

The date of their judgment before the Versailles Criminal Court is not yet known.

The investigation began in March when Bac police spotted individuals in Orgeval (Yvelines) stealing two cars.

After abandoning one of the vehicles, they manage to flee in the direction of the department of Val-d'Oise.

The "mouse-jacking" technique

Telephone tapping, surveillance, spinning… the gendarmes in charge of the investigations realize that this structured network is not limited to Yvelines but is rampant throughout Île-de-France and Oise.

This specialized team used the “mouse-jacking” technique.

After opening a door, thieves used a key reprogramming device to be able to electronically start cars by connecting to the diagnostic socket.

They also relied on paid “little hands” for travel and vehicle deliveries.

These were then shipped to Africa in containers.
