Jean-Pierre Robin: "France has 38 million poor people, according to Jean Castex"

ANALYSIS - By proposing the “inflation allowance” of 100 euros, the government de facto considers that the 38 million French people it claims to help are unable to meet their needs on their own.


Faced with soaring energy prices, the executive has changed its doctrine in its way of helping the French from one month to the next.

The additional 100 euros "energy check" announced last September was aimed exclusively at the 5.8 million poorest households.

Families who live below the "poverty line", which, according to a European convention, is equivalent to 60% of the median income of the population, or 1,102 euros per month in France for a single person (in 2019) according to the calculation of INSEE dated October 5.

This check will be available next December and should be used only to pay gas and electricity bills.
