The President of the Landtag, Birgit Keller (left), praised the Thuringian state constitution as a "reliable legal basis for all times" and a "stable foundation for our coexistence".
On Monday, Keller recalled the adoption of the Thuringian Constitution on Twitter exactly 28 years ago.
It was decided by the state parliament on October 25, 1993 at the Wartburg near Eisenach.
Erfurt - It finally came into force a year later through a referendum.
The historic event was to be commemorated with exhibitions and guided tours in the Landtag on Monday.
According to the state parliament, an exhibition is about the creation of today's Thuringian constitution after the re-establishment of the state of Thuringia in the course of German-German reunification.
A second exhibition deals with the youth constitution.
Last year, children and young people had developed a youth-friendly version of the state constitution in workshops and video conferences.

Most recently, the red-red-green minority coalition and the opposition CDU had been negotiating a constitutional reform for many months and originally agreed on a package of changes.
Before the dissolution of the state parliament, the CDU had declared the project to have failed due to differences of opinion on some points.
On the occasion of the Constitution Day, the Left MP Anja Müller again appealed to the CDU to undertake “further result-oriented activities” in the Constitutional Committee.
Among other things, the strengthening of voluntary work, the creation of equal living conditions in town and country and the further development of democracy deserved to come to an end with the consultation.
