Maisach - The general renovation of the Merian Bridge in Gernlinden has been completed.
On Monday morning, the overpass was opened to traffic again by the Mayor of Maisach, Hans Seidl (CSU), in the presence of numerous representatives from the construction company, engineering offices, the railway, the district office, the municipal council and the municipal building administration.
Normally you wouldn't make such a fuss about the renovation of a bridge, but this engineering achievement, which had to be mastered due to the problems that had arisen, should be appreciated, said Seidl in his greeting, which the Maisach town hall chief held in front of the bridge, which was still closed.
Seidl thanks residents
Bridge builders are something valuable in the figurative sense, but in the real sense it was a not inconsiderable burden, reported Seidl.
“It is only through the detours that you had to drive that you notice how the place is divided,” he said.
The detour was considerable.
Seidl thanked the residents for their understanding during the construction period, especially for withstanding the stresses caused by construction site traffic and noise, even at night.
The bridge has been closed to renovation since mid-February.
But now it was finished a month earlier and bus route 875 is back to the regular schedule.
Demolition or new steel beam
"The whole project was characterized by competence, luck and a great deal of togetherness," emphasized Seidl.
The luck was that they got the company Berger Bau with the tender, with whom it was possible to work together very well.
In the middle of the year there were
difficulties
with the
stability of
the bridge.
The middle
carrier
to be replaced played
a special role.
“Either we need a
steel girder
or
we will
tear the bridge down completely,” reported the mayor.
“This range has been discussed.
That would not only have
meant
a
delay
until next year, it would also
have resulted in
costs that would have been significant for the community. "
Bridge problem has been solved
Only through the good
cooperation of
all the protagonists involved could the bridge problem be solved and the renovation continued, Seidl thanked the participating engineering offices SSF, Wegel, Stenzel, the test engineers, the construction company Berger Bau, as well as the institutions (district office / ÖPNV, MVV, DB, Landesgewerbeanstalt) and the municipal building management (Marcus Greulich, Benedikt Späth, Petra Endres).
In this context, Seidl also particularly emphasized Gerhard Stenzel, who actually had nothing to do with the renovation but lives in Gernlinden.
Stenzel, a publicly appointed and sworn expert for prestressed concrete, was contacted by project manager Greulich and advised the building management.
