Tyler was best known as a cult figure from the hit sitcom "Friends".
According to US media reports, James Michael Tyler succumbed to prostate cancer after several years of illness.
He had made it public to the US broadcaster NBC in June.
Prostate cancer was diagnosed as early as September 2018, Tyler said at the time, when the cancer had also spread to his bones.
