The data presented by Dr. Elrai Price, head of public health services, responds to the fear of a fifth wave outbreak • One of the urgent conclusions that has emerged is a critical need to increase the rate of immunization in Israel •

Most senior Ministry of Health officials have understood in recent days that preparations must be made for the fifth wave of the corona, which may arrive in the country in the coming weeks, and not as was the case at the end of the third wave.

Better late than never.

The data presented by Dr. Sharon Elrai Price, head of public health services at the Ministry of Health, on a renewed acceleration in the spread of corona in some countries of the world, together with the decline in the level of vaccination of vaccinators and recoverers and the possibility that the virus continues to change. Some Israelis infected with the new corona subspecies.

According to data presented by Dr. Elrai Price, the most serious, significant and best professional in the fight against corona in the country, the situation in many countries is getting worse. In Romania, for example, there is already a collapse of the health care system. According to these data, in recent weeks morbidity rates have skyrocketed in countries such as the Czech Republic (jump of 146%), Hungary (120%), the Netherlands (113%), and also in Latvia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovakia, Austria and Germany. , In some countries, for example - the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands - the re-emergence occurs despite a high level of immunization of the population.

One of the urgent conclusions from these difficult data is the critical need to increase the vaccination rate in Israel - both for the 700,000 Israelis who have not yet been vaccinated at all, and for the one and a half million Israelis who have not yet been vaccinated in the third vaccine dose. The Ministry of Health and the four HMOs must make a much more significant medical, explanatory and logistical effort to vaccinate all those who have not yet done so - to protect them and to deepen Israel's health security.

However, there are another million Israeli children aged 11-5 who have not been vaccinated against Corona at all, and will soon be able to be vaccinated - if the US authorities approve the vaccine (the first hearing will take place tomorrow), followed by the Ministry of Health. Because most vaccines in the world, as well as in Israel, against serious and deadly diseases have been given to babies and children in Israel for decades, and routine vaccines have already managed to save thousands of children from disability and death in agony. To protect them and also to expand the immune protection of all Israelis.

In the earlier stages of vaccination approvals, the Ministry of Health management acted stutteringly and unprofessionally regarding vaccinations for 15-12 year olds, and the message conveyed to parents was confusing and distorted about the vaccine’s necessity and importance.

Then, when the ministry came to its senses and emphatically called on all parents to vaccinate their children, it was very difficult to do so.

This time, the Ministry of Health, and also Prime Minister Naftali Bennett himself, must act in a uniform and decisive voice and call on all parents in Israel to vaccinate their children to save lives, prevent irreversible damage to children and arrive more prepared for the next waves of the plague.
