Magmarov Nijat, a 17-year-old boy from Netanya, was laid to rest this afternoon (Monday) after he died yesterday at Tel Hashomer Hospital.

He was seriously injured last Wednesday night in a fire that broke out in his room due to an electric scooter battery flare-up.

He is rushed to the hospital suffering from burns all over his body and inhaling smoke.

For four days Nijat fought for his life but yesterday as mentioned he passed away.

The late Nijat was an 11th grade student at the Eldad School in Netanya.

Last night, a dialogue was held at the school with the students in collaboration with the municipal psychological service, school counselors and administration.

This morning the students gathered and a corner was erected in his memory.

At school they said: "He was a good boy. His friends are shocked and do not digest his passing. We are sad and crying since we received the bitter news."

Data from the organization "Before Child Safety" show that since the beginning of the year, eight boys have died as a result of a fire, two of them due to flames that erupted from a battery explosion.

The organization's CEO, Orly Silvinger: "As the popularity of electric bicycles and scooters increases, we hear more and more about fires caused by unsafe charging of the battery.

We call on everyone, do not say 'it will not happen to me'.

"You do not charge a battery unattended, and at the end of the charge, you disconnect it from the electricity."
