Attack on the CSU or just a contribution to climate protection?

The free voters want to build hundreds of wind turbines in Bavaria.

However, this is not discussed with the coalition partner.

Munich - It sounds like a good project at first.

Bavaria's Economics and Environment Ministers, Hubert Aiwanger and Thorsten Glauber (both free voters), want to build more wind turbines in Bavaria.

Good for the environment, possibly bad for the coalition climate.

Because in the Free State, the strict 10h rule of the CSU * applies.

No wind turbine may be built closer than ten times its height to residential buildings.

The de facto end for numerous systems.

The two ministers of the Free Voters already have an alternative location in mind.

Hundreds of wind turbines in Bavaria: Aiwanger only sees advantages

"37 percent of the country's area is forest, and we now have to implement more wind power in Bavaria," said the head of the free voters of the German press agency in Munich *. So if you put one and one together, there is hardly a better alternative than building wind turbines in the Bavarian forests. Aiwanger also doesn't want to wait until a possible traffic light coalition might overturn the 10h rule. "There is definitely new movement in the debate." Today, Monday, October 25, the Minister of Economic Affairs and his colleague Glauber want to present their plans in Creußen (Bayreuth district). He already lists the advantages of his plan beforehand.

The free voter boss has already identified potential locations.

"There is a tendency for a third of the area to be in state forests and two-thirds in private forests," said Aiwanger.

This is good news for the forest owners, because they could even earn money with the wind turbines.

In other federal states, rent of several 10,000 euros per year is possible, he emphasized.

The money could be used to compensate for losses caused by poor wood prices.

More wind turbines would also offer more benefits for the flora and fauna, according to Aiwanger.

The areas would be ecologically upgraded.

Because in the midst of the tree monocultures, 50 by 50 meter clearings would be created on which flowers and thistles could grow - a habitat for insects and other animals.

The trees felled for the wind turbines could also be reforested elsewhere.

The wind turbine plan has not been discussed with the CSU

As nice as the plans of the Free Voters for the Bavarian climate goals would be, they will probably not ensure a better climate in the governing coalition. Because the state forests fall within the remit of the Minister of Agriculture, Michaela Kaniber (CSU). However, the wind turbine idea was not discussed with the coalition partner. And although CSU boss Markus Söder * announced a relaxation of the 10h rule months ago, not much has happened yet. The CSU and free voters have been fighting for months to amend their own climate protection law. The paper - should it already exist - will probably lie in the drawer for a long time, because one wants to wait and see what the plans of a new federal government to expand renewable energies will look like.
