If life is a book, KK, who is nearly 70 years old, probably wrote a lot of negative words in the book in his early years.

Since childhood, he suffered from bone tuberculosis and suffered from inconvenience and pain for many years. In the education industry for more than 30 years, he was forced to retire early due to cataracts and retinal detachment. He lost 75% of his eyesight.

The backlog of negative emotions over the years eventually broke out during the epidemic and social movement, and KK's life was once at a low ebb.

But the story does not end here. The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation has previously exclusively introduced the "ACTivate Your Life Program" original by British clinical psychologist Prof. Neil Frude to Hong Kong; KK learned how to use the "Acceptance and Commitment Therapy" during its participation in the "Acceptance and Commitment Therapy". New perspectives and methods face up to the unsatisfactory life of life, and write a new page for one's life journey.

The KK in front of me spoke kindly and calmly. He talked about tuberculosis entering the bones when he was a child. He was diagnosed with tuberculosis when he was 3 years old. When he was 9 years old, his condition recurred and he needed to remove his hip joint. Since he was a child, he took 9 capsules a day under "exercise". Medicine is not difficult. "There are no sports halls, and I feel low self-esteem all the way...As my classmates talked about, I seem to have many good memories that I don’t remember too much." He also pointed out that he often had nightmares when he was young. When he gradually grew up, he saw other students "chasing girls" with guitars. He also felt envious. "Choking girls told me that it was low (less important). I felt that I was not good enough. There are girls who like me."

Facing pain and inconvenience for many years, feel low self-esteem

Whenever I saw KK in the neighborhood since he was a child, he would be told to study hard and "sit in the office" when he grows up. "It's not a matter of words, so I have to bear the burden at the first time." Faced with pain for many years, KK still persists in pursuing his dream of teaching, and he also recognizes his current wife in the university.

After completing his studies, KK soon went to teach in a private middle school, and then moved to different schools. The teaching career for more than 30 years seems to be smooth, but he has fallen into a low ebb in his life.

The more conscientious teachers have a sense of mission, and the less able to take care of themselves... In fact, if you start with emotions in the morning, things may be better.

"In the third year of teaching, the retina began to fall off. As soon as I saw the doctor, I was immediately admitted to the hospital." KK pointed out that vision problems began to appear in the early years. At first, he had surgery on his left eye; but a few years later he was kicked while swimming in the pool. To the eyes, vision problems in the right eye.

Over the years, his pain has continued to worsen, and he has even experienced problems with long and short feet.

He received many treatments such as bone-setting, acupuncture, and massage, but the situation has not been relieved. "In our age, the school did not encourage sick leave. It seems that if you want to get well, you should increase it." KK recalled that from then on. The mood is a little low, and there are friends around me who can’t bear the pressure to commit suicide. "The more responsible the teacher, the more missionary and the less able to take care of himself... If you start with your emotions in the morning, things might be better. Huh."

The outbreak of negative emotions stimulated by the epidemic and social movement affects the body

The backlog of negative emotions lasted for many years and eventually broke out during the epidemic and social movements.

KK pointed out that staying at home for the purpose of preventing the epidemic was like being trapped, and learned from social movement news that many students he had taught participated in it. The unprecedented sense of powerlessness made him fall into the lowest ebb and made the alarm sound again in his body. There were problems with her skin and immune system, and she had to retire.

When seeking medical advice, the doctor diagnosed him as suffering from depression and anxiety. “At first, I didn’t accept it. I felt that I should have been exposed to the sun for decades.” Encouraged by his wife, KK began to take antidepressants. ; On the other side, Xiang participated in the "Mind Initiation" course of the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation, hoping to regain the meaning of life.

Change from "unwilling to heart" to "live in the present"

The "Activity of Mind" course is a patent authorized by the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation. It introduces the "ACTivate Your Life Program" course originally created by British clinical psychologist Prof. Neil Frude to help participants pay attention to their mental health through the application of "Acceptance and Commitment Therapy" 、Improve mental flexibility, which is divided into 6 treatment parts, hoping to gradually guide the participants to reduce the impact of negative emotions on their lives.

KK believes that after participating in the project, I learned to face my own shortcomings squarely, and accepted that my eyesight would gradually return to zero, changing from "unwilling to heart" to "live in the present."

He hopes to make good use of his existing eyesight and physical strength to enjoy life. He is constantly challenging new fields. In addition to learning guitar and fulfilling his childhood dreams, he also participates in the application of art therapy for depression management courses, and promises to live a more exciting life.

She likened negative emotions to "conveyor sushi", "We I can’t control my emotions, but I actually don’t like this sushi. You don’t have to eat it. A lot of times people will distract their unpleasant emotions. Will they miss it? Do you want to eat?” She thinks that on weekdays The strategy of "just notice" should be adopted, hoping to help clients coexist with negative thoughts.
